City of Marietta Tree Removal Permit and Ordinance
Permit Required: Yes – Non-Residential
The city of Marietta requires specific instructions for the removal of a tree from any property. You will find a brief description of the requirements and statutes provided by the city below. To avoid any confusion, please let us handle the permit process for you.
Permit Requirements for Specimen Trees:
- large hardwoods: 18” diameter or larger
- large softwoods: 24” diameter or larger
- Understroy trees: 9” diameter or larger
Additionally, the trees are considered specimen if their life expectancy is greater than 15 years, if their trunks are sound with no extensive decay, no more than one major dead limbs (hardwoods only), or no major insect or pathological problem.
